A Night at the Gallery
About a month ago, I went to hear a doctor speak about vulvodynia. My husband and my mom went with me. I thought it would be helpful for them to hear what I have been hearing so they could understand it more. The room was full when we walked in, which was surprising. I didn't think there would be that many people who would have even known about the lecture. There were doctor's, women who didn't have a diagnosis, women who did have a diagnosis, family and friends. The doctor described the symptoms of vulvodynia. She talked about some of the treatments and gave examples of success stories from some of her patients with all different levels of pain. As I listened to hear speak, I
Everyone Has Something
Tuesday night I was upset because I didn't like my haircut. My hairdresser cut more bangs than I usually have and they looked weird. Yesterday I laughed about it with friends and posted silly pictures on Facebook. I'm still getting used to my new 'do. It's not as bad as I originally thought.Today, at an event for work, I sat across from two women who had Alopecia. And I felt horrible. For having hair. For complaining about my bangs. For them. For everyone like them.I couldn't stop looking at them. I honestly didn't know where to look. But I couldn't stop. I was so interested to hear what they had to say. What amazed me was how happy and positive the
The Disney Debate
Last time I went to Disney World was for my honeymoon. At that point, I was still in the whole "I will never ever ever have kids" mindset. I went to Disney last week. It's amazing how different Disney is when you want to have a baby. I noticed every family...the good, the bad, and the ugly. So, here's the great debate. Argument #1: Going to Disney will make you want to have kids even more. Argument #2: Going to Disney will make you never want to have kids and really question your biological feelings.Let's start with Argument 1. There are SO many adorable, sweet children and happy families in
Skinny Jeans
I wore my skinny jeans yesterday. They were a bit snug...just a bit, but I wore them. By the end of the day my stomach hurt slightly. It doesn't matter. I wore my skinny jeans for almost an entire day! Woohoo!
Kind of like Botox but not really
So, I've been keeping a secret...sort of. I know that I've told a lot of people about what I'm about to confess, but I haven't told my blog yet. Therefore, it has been a secret...from the Internet. On my anniversary in July, I had a procedure done to attempt to help my vulvodynia. Injection therapy to block my pudenda nerve. The specialist who points to his area as if it's like my area recommended we try the nerve block. I've had it done twice so far and my third, and last, block is scheduled for Wednesday. The first block was an experience I'll never forget. I commented to my mom that there was no way it could hurt more than the acid experience. I
