History & Folklore: The Legend
The arrival of the crisp October air and the brilliant changing of the leaves always reminds me of my childhood. One part, in particular, centers around a radio broadcast that is played only during this specific month. The Legend, as it is known, began as an April Fools joke in 1987. Upon the discovery of an old Native American legend and the surfacing of a French fur traders diary, startling parallels were found between the stories. More recent accounts of sitings began pouring in and The Legend carved it's place into Michigan's rich history.

Black plastic garbage bags work well because they're thick and will withstand a few digs before the squirrel will give up.Cover the top of the pot with chicken wire or smaller. This will make the dirt harder to get at.Leave food (peanuts, sunflower seeds or cracked corn). Be sure to place far away from your plants.Plant flowers that are naturally distasteful to squirrels.
