What Season Is It?
Today I went into PetSmart to get some stuff for the fish tank in my office and saw they had already put up their holiday season decorations. (apparently they don’t care about Thanksgiving) Normally I would say Christmas decorations, but there was more than just Christmas. The sign said “Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy Ramadan. Interesting. Just three years ago I remember people going crazy about religious decorations. Businesses were avoiding offending people and simply went with ‘holiday’ decorations. Now, businesses and schools are attempting to embrace it all. Maybe this is evidence that people
church or Church
In many ways I am annoyed at the way the word church has been used in recent history. Many people use the word to label a building or even a particular congregation, but I think that is a huge understatement of what the word actually means. The Church (notice the capital ‘C’) is not a building, and it’s not limited to a single congregation. Jesus calls himself the bridegroom in Matthew 9:15, and his bride is the Church.  The entire body of believers is considered to be the Church. This means people worshiping Go
The Electric Guitar
Over the past eight years, I have barely touched an electric guitar. It has probably been since my junior year in high school that I really played an electric much. It’s much easier to lead worship and play a rhythm instrument than a lead instrument. Now that I have the Telecaster, I have not only re-kindled my desire to play electric. It’s opened up new musical interests (including The Who and Eric Clapton), and has broadened my ability as a musician. Plus, I play way more in my free-time that I have for quite some time. Who would have thought that this acoustic loving man would start favoring his electric? It’s great.
Community 4:12
I met with BT from Community Christian Church – Shorewood Campus over breakfast this morning at the Crispy Waffle. We are making plans for music to be played during the Christmas mart in downtown Joliet. I’m excited about the event because it gives us another opportunity to serve the community of Joliet, as well as the fact we are partnering with another church. I love seeing God at work.
The Kid is Here
I can’t believe the time has come. It seems that just yesterday my wife informed me of the positive pregnancy test. Being a father is surreal and exciting and scary and so many other things that I’m not really sure how to put in words.
