How Running in a Marathon is a Lot Like Life
I did it!! I just completed my first running race ever on Saturday. It was the Vulcan Run 10k race, which is the equivalent of 6.2 miles. I am so proud of myself!! I really didn’t have any doubts that I would be able to do it, but I worried that I wouldn’t be able to keep up wit
Not Being Frozen by Fear
I’m getting ready to do my morning run in a little while with my running buddy, Katie. She and I are training for the Mercedes Marathon that’s going to be in February 2010. We’ve been training now for a couple of months and making good strides. Actually, I’m pretty proud of us for being consistent, upbeat and generally excited about accomplishing a goal that both of us are looking forward to. However, yesterday, I had a momentary setback in my enthusiasm.
Finding Stability in Your Hectic Life
I am a big fan of helping others and doing the right thing, especially when the situation warrants ethical and appropriate behavior. My heart broke this morning when my dear neighbor’s daughter simply bawled that her mother had to leave her and go to work. The little girl clung on to her leg and begged her to not go to work because she said, “my stomach hurts.” My friend was very stressed as she stood there trying to decide what to do as the school bus was coming around the corner, about to pick up the kids from the stop. She is in the medical field and had to be at work in less t
Finally Coming to Terms With Hair and Exercising
For now, my hair issues are resolved. No, let me re-phrase that. I don’t have anymore hair issues. I have come to grips with my dilemma of working out and a hairstyle to accommodate that lifestyle. Braids. No, not the 60-inch, drooping to my knees braids. Nor are they the ones with fifty different funky colors. They are nice, long, professional braids that will allow me to sweat and give it my all, while at the same time being able to pull it together
