G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra – Review
I should have known. I made the mistake, and I paid for it (literally). I saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in the theater. One of the biggest wastes of my time I’ve ever spent money on. It taught me a valuable lesson, though: I learned that it actually is possible to be bored stiff during long, high-technical-quality, eye-candy filled action sequences. Never before had I watched so much stuff blow up and thought “when will it end?!”
Transformers was just one of the two movies this summer that tried to bring back a cartoon from my youth in live-action form. G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, was the other. From the trailers, it was clear that th
A colorful cavalcade of classical coolness
This excites me on many levels. It’s so simple, and yet so cool.
It’s not at all new either. In fact, there’s a multi-award winning film that uses something very similar in its most famous scene. (Comment below if you know what it is.)
What is it, and why does it excite me?
Don’t laugh.
It’s a bar graph.
Yes, seriously.
Wait, wait! Don’t go… it’s not just any old bar graph. This one moves. And it lights up. And there’s music.
Starting to see the cool yet?
Yeah, I probably wouldn’t either, if I was just reading this. Stick with me.
Let’s package it this way: Thi
My superpower, or why I don’t watch sports
Generally speaking, when you’re with a bunch of guys you can always count on one topic of conversation coming up: sports. Every guy watches sports, right? Maybe not all sports, but you can pretty much count on baseball, football, basketball, or hockey (at least in the US) as safe topics where guys have at least some knowledge of the teams and how the season is going.
Not me. But I have a good reason.
I have a superpower. I have the power to make a team lose a game. And I can prove it.
If I could control this power, I could use it for good, but unfortunately it’s out of my hands. It only works against the team I’m rooting for, and its effects greatly
Star Wars, like you’ve never seen it before
I mentioned this a while back, but this guy decided to use the power of the internet to break Star Wars up into 15 second segments and have people submit their versions of those segments. Then his plan is to put those segments back together into one “cohesive” movie.
Apparently he’s pretty far along with it, and now we have a trailer!

Firefly is back, Singing Batman, and Cyborg Rats
Seriously, where else are you going to get a combination like that?
I’ve got three video clips for you today, and one of them is not fiction. See if you can figure out which one.
Firefly is back!
That’s right, Nathan Fillion has suited up one more time as Mal Reynolds. Unfortunately, it’s only a reference to his Firefly character on his new show, Castle, but it’s pretty cool, with a couple of good lines and music cues.
Singing Batman!
Okay, Batman doesn’t sing in this clip, but he does in this musical episode of Batman: The Brave and The Bold. To get a se
