Richie: Hopson Joins Party That Has Abandoned Texas
Texas Democratic Party Chairman Boyd Ritchie today had strong words for State Rep. Chuck Hopson (D-Jacksonville) who announced he is joining the Republican Party.

“Make no mistake… as a rural Democratic elected official who served in rural Texas, I can tell you that if, in fact, Chuck Hopson makes this announcement this afternoon, he will be joining a party that has abandoned rural Texas.

Saying that President Obama and the Democrats in Congress do not reflect the concerns and conservative values of his district, State Representative Chuck Hopson announced today that he has formally resigned from the Democrat Party and will formally join the Republican Party at a formal press conference this coming week in Jacksonville, Texas. HD 101: Restaurateur, Former Deuell Staffer Seeks Miklos’ Seat
Cindy Burkett, A Mesquite Restaurateur and former staffer for State Sen. Bob Deuell (R-Greenville) has announced she will seek the Republican Party’s nomination for the HD 101 seat currently held by State Rep. Robert Miklos (D-Mesquite).
An already crowded field is emerging for the HD 1010 GOP Primary. Former State Rep. Thomas Latham (R-Sunnyvale) already announced he’d seek a grudge match against Miklos.
