Thankgiving with the Ricketts(es)
Tomorrow is a favored holiday in much of America.  Who can’t get behind the idea of sitting around and eating like a pig, watching football and listening to the women in your family tear through the sale ads in that day’s newspaper like Charlie Weis trying to get the last Milky Way out of the package? For some families, this holiday will be even more special. Take the Ricketts family of Omaha,
Rick Morrissey is tangibly awful
I probably don’t have to remind you that Kermit’s and my newest Facebook friend, Chicago Tribune sports “columnist” Rick Morrissey is a simplistic boob.  I probably don’t have to remind you of that, because Rick takes it upon himself to remind us several times per week. It has to be exhausting, really. And beyond the impressive effort he puts into crafting his head-scratching nonsense is the consistency with which he p
Hendry’s drunk again
We had heard rumors for a couple of weeks that the Cubs were “close” to re-signing lefty reliever John Grabow to a two year contract, and today, they did, and we found out how much 70 innings of sub 3.50 ERA will get if you’re lefthanded.  Apparently it’s $7.5 million. Provided that Jim Hendry is the guy chasing you with a pen and a contract. I actually think Grabow is kind of good.  He’s a nice piece to have in a bullpen.  But at a
Granderson? Sure. At what price?

Not only are the Cubs interested, but apparently the two teams talked about a trade that included Granderson.
The most spot-on book review of all-time
I will admit that part of the reason that Bill Simmons’ big book of basketball nonsense is currently the #1 Bestseller on the New York Times non-fiction list is that I bought a copy of it.  As you well know, I get big ideas from time to time and on rare occasion I actually follow through with them.  I was going to buy the much hyped book, read it and review it for you, the home reader.
