| Description: | Grrl Action began in 1999 as a summer workshop in creative writing and performance designed to empower girls between the ages of 13 and 16 to find their public voices and build confidence while collaborating with young women from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. In fall 2007, Grrl Action expanded its mission, and added a year-round performance-based artistic education program. Grrl Action now enables young women from 13 to 18 to plan and execute individual, long-term artistic projects, working across the disciplines, alongside professional female artists as their mentors. |

Grrl Action Open Studios and Off Shoot Sneak Peek Party!
Tomorrow, November 14th, Grrl Action will celebrate the current renovation of The Off Shoot, a classroom and rehearsal space dedicated to the creative endeavors of teenage girls! First, an open studio from 12-5pm will exhibit works by grrls and their mentors. And at 5pm, we'll start the "sneak peek" party, with pizza and beer and special tours of the space mid-renovation. Heading out on the East Austin Studio Tour? Make us an unofficial stop on your route, or come by at the end of the day! Events are free, but donations to help us with the completion of the renovation will be cheerfully accepted!
