Steagles vs. Lions; Regular Season Game 8
Forbes Field, Pittsburgh 21 November 1943. Over 23,000 fans were in attendance for the Steagles’ game against the Detroit Lions. The Lions were an average team, they won a number of games, lost a few more. Just a week before the lions were decimated by the Redskins 42-20. The week before that they played the New York Giants to a scoreless tie (the last scoreless tie in NFL history).

Review: No Greater Ally
The Second World War started in Europe on 1 September 1939. Germany had invaded Poland. France and Britain declare war on Germany in response to this. A war that started with Poland being invaded ends with it still occupied by a murderous totalitarian foreign power.
Years ago in school when we covered the war the only mention of Poland was that the Germans invaded it…. that’s it. There were a lot of myths about the whole thing. Jokes about the Polish cavalry charging German tanks with lances and sabers, that the Polish air force was obliterated on the ground by the blitz and that Poland quickly surrendered to Germany.

Vic Sears was playing with a broken finger. Bobby Thurbon had a pulled muscle in his leg. Ben Kish had a bruised knee.” (Algeo p.159) This game would not be as easy as their firs

This American filibuster made numerous attempts to establish his own nations that he hoped would eventually become part of the United States. One such attempt was made in Baja California and Sonora in Mexico. The Mexican government drove Walker out.
Later Walker conquered Nicaragua but ticked off Cornelius Vanderbilt in the process. Troops from Costa Rica and mercenaries supported by Vanderbil
Steagles vs. Redskins; Regular Season Game 6
Net up for the Steagles were the Redskings. In 1942 the Redskins lost only one of their eleven games. “Bookmakers made the Redskins ten-point favorites. The point spread was a relatively new concept in 1943.” (Algeo p.153) The game took place in Shibe Park on 7 November 1943 in front of 28,893 fans.
First Quarter
Neither team managed to score any points during the first quarter.
Second/Third Quarter
According to Matthew Algeo’s book Larry Cabrelli, one of the Steagles players, managed to score a touchdown on an interception in the second quarter. Less than four minutes later the Redskins receiver Wilbur Moore scored
