A gift from a friend and television testing - retro style!
A couple of days ago I received this gorgeous pendant from a friend in the UK. Apparently she use to collect retro and vintage jewellery and since she's clearing out her stash she kindly offered to send me this (above). I've already started wearing it to the office when I've got black on as I think it stands out
Image of the week - Gossip Ladies!
I wonder what they are talking about in whispers? I think I can imagine - examples below:Did you hear about Mrs Brown two doors up from my house? She got caught by her husband in his lunchtime break in bed with the milkman!Mrs Smith's son Jimmy has been kicked out of school and he's joined up with the terrible motorcycle gang.Mrs Williams' daughter Jenny got herself in trouble a
It's all one mad crush!
What a funny strange ad! The caption for this one says "Ad for Tebilized Fabrics, 1970".I dig the fashion for this era - my favourites in this one are the blue and black dresses but...I'm wondering what the point is for them all to wear blonde affro wigs?Is that a red beach buggy that two of the models are standing on - cool! The 3rd one from the left almost looks like Lulu.
Jayne Mansfield's elaborate pink bathroom again
Remember Jayne Mansfield's very very pink bathroom I posted about a while back? Thanks to the wonders of flickr I've found a better shot of of it this time in black and white. You can see how sparkly the bath tiles are and how elaborate the taps and bottles are around it. It also looks like the area around the bath is made of some sort of marble? And yes it looks like the walls have indeed been carpeted in pink sh
It was the Manfred!
Manfred Mann - one of my favourite mod bands of the 1960's and were such a large part of the British invasion that the tv show "Ready Steady Go" used this song for their theme. They featured presenters such as Cathy McGowan and Keith Fordyce and early shows were presented by Dusty Springfield. Some of the musicians on their show were The Beatles, Rolling Stones, The Supremes, The Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Helen Shapiro, Freddie and the Pacemakers, Hermans Hermits, The Dave Clark Five, The Who, Georgie Fame, Sandy Shaw, Gene Pitney and many more.
