Put Your Favourite Place on the Poetry Map!
The East Riding Library Service has teamed up with The South Bank Centre, London, on their new literary project called GPS (Global Poetry System!) which is designed to map the whereabouts of poetry in the UK’s landscapes and cityscapes.    Over the coming months, poets and poetry sleuths will be able to raise the profile of the places they love through posting poems about them on the GPS website. ManyHands Poetry Competition
Judged by copland smith Chorlton’s Community Arts Café invites entries of poems up to 50 lines on the theme of community. 1st prize, gift vouchers worth £100; 2nd prize, gift vouchers worth £50; 3rd prize, gift vouchers worth £25. Winners will be announced 1st January, with an opportunity to read at the café and compete for the position of ManyHands Café Poet in Residence.  The competition closes on the 15th December.
