MP3 and the Death of the Album
Lately I've read quite a bit about how digital audio formats (excluding CD and DAT) and portable music players (namely iPods and other MP3 players) are ruining the album (or the interchangeable term "LP") and musicians are complaining about it. I understand the argument well. MP3's take songs out of sequence from the album and when taken away are no longer seen as the cohesive whole but meant to stand on its own. If this takes over, the album as we know it is effectively over. As a recording musician, this affects me. Also, as a music enthusiast that grew up with tapes, vinyl, and buying CD's but shunning compilations and mixdiscs (with a few exceptions), this
The Way "la plano" Should Have Sounded
Second only to "And Now We Eclipse the Apocalypse," "la plano" is one of Illusion of Art's best received songs. I recorded "la plano" in a hurry, as I did all the other songs on Phylum and have always been pissed with the result. Review of "King Stach's Savage Hunt"
And now back the film reviews. Why? Hell, I don't know. I just like writing them I guess. I have to thank the Boris for this one who had previously turned me on to a lot of Russian music, then some Russian authors, then a lot good films, and now good Russian films. He sent me more than I
It's an Accepted Scientific Theory! Run Away! Run Away!
Yesterday I got to see on Richard Metzger's great site, Dangerous Minds, the most recent display of Kirk Cameron's stupidity.I think it's pretty safe to say at this point that I am not an atheist. No, I don't believe in Cameron's deity who possesses the mind of a four year old with serious fucking anger management issues. Even if I did, I would choose an opposing god out of asylum after reading some of the exploits of this so called "god." What's worse is, that whereas Judaism does not make this "god" out to be an all good god but they stick with him because he
