Sermon for the Feast of St. Luke
Readings: Isa. 5 3-6 2 Tim. 4 5-17 Luke 10 1-9In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy SpiritToday we are celebrating St. Luke, so I shall begin by taking a brief look at what we know of St. Luke, it’s a brief look because we don’t know much. St. Luke is believed to be the author of the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts. He was a Greek and possibly a gentile physician who became a disciple of Saint Paul. At the start of Luke’s gospel he seems to admit that he, himself, never saw Jesus personally, however, there have also been suggestions that he was one of the seventy sent out in today’s gospel reading.
