Foodie Friday: Addictive Fall Fruit Punch
When we have parties, the Mr. and I like to have a signature drink. Usually it’s his famous mojitos, but for our Halloween party I wanted to try something a bit more festive. I love apple cider, and this delicious punch from the October issue of Martha Stewart Living gives my favorite fermented fruit a little zing. I made it in advance and served it virgin, with both plain and cranberry vodka available on the side to kick it up a notch (we’re not fans of gin). Look for ginger beer at the liquor store, but note that it’s a cousin of root beer, not alcoholic beer. Ingredients: 1/3 cup fresh cranberries 2 ta
30 In The Next 30
marthastewart.com Today I’m transitioning from just plain thirty to thirty-something. How the hell did that happen? I  have vivid memories from pre-school (and still some friends from pre-school), and yet here I am with a job, a marriage, a house, and all of the responsibilities that come with those things. Little Boy Not-So-Blue
This year, seven of my friends have had, or are having, babies. That means lots of baby showers, and this weekend I went to the fourth one of the year for a friend who is due with a baby boy in December. Seeing all her adorable gifts got me thinking about nurseries. Even if you know you’re having a boy, there’s no need to limit your wall color to baby blue. I love the brown and aqua color scheme of Tori Spelling’s son Liam’s nursery, although I’ve always been a bit scared of octopi.
Moody Blue Rooms
I’m feeling a smidge stressed lately, with a birthday looming next week, lack of ideas for Christmas gifts, a million errands to run and no desire to do them, ironing piling up to the point where I have access to only half of my wardrobe, yada yada yada. On top of it, the sky turns the inky blue of the images below by 4:30pm. At least the birds have stopped crashing into my office window. Let me tell you, it’s quite depressing to see flocks of little birdies commit mass suicide against the window only to be torn apart by waiting crows. Ick. We all have days when we feel moody a
Counting Down to “New Moon”
While at the gym last night I caught up on the latest issue of People, which showed some stills from the December issue of Harper’s Bazaar featuring Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. I’m playing hooky on Friday afternoon to go see “New Moon” with some co-workers, and these photos have me counting down the minutes! Let me be clear: I loved the books – they’re cheesy, adventurous, romantic fun. “Twilight” the movie left a lot to be desired; on our HDTV, the poor make-up job was plainly obvious, and don’t get me started on Kristen Stewart’s acting skills or the casting director’s terrib
