Jumping Off Cliffs (and building my wings on the way down)
Flu/Cold/Something
I've been sick for a couple of days--not felt well for a week, actually, but finally succumbed to it Thursday evening. The symptoms are a hybrid of cold and flu type stuff. Since it crept up on me so slowly I don't think it's the flu, but it certainly feels lousier than a standard cold. So, needless to say, I'm behind and am not likely to make the 50,000 word goal by the end of the month (I'm just past 23,000 now). Though I've gotten a thousand here and five hundred there, sitting in front of the computer has not appealed much. I did get a couple of thousand words written this morning (in between trying to catch up on loads of wash). I think I'll wait to reread them. They seem
Invasion of the Body Snatchers
Since September I've been requesting old Sci-fi movies from Netflix to watch with the boys. Everything from The Day of the Triffids to The Blob to The Monster on Campus to Robinson Crusoe on Mars to(this evening) The Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978)and a mix of other (sometimes B-grade) classics. When Ruby was a puppy I used to tell Daniel that she was better than any of those dolls that they send home with teenage girls to give them a sense of just how hard it is to care for something that never stops needing you. Ruby got him up multiple times a night for the first three months of life, needed constant supervision be
Unto everything there is a season . . .
I am on track for NanoWrimo with a word count of over 16,000. Unfortunately, TUF (writer's forum I moderate on) is down so I'm working without the hoped for cheering section. The admin who so generously set the site up for us is a computer whiz so I'm sure he'll get it back up and running as soon as he can. Meanwhile, I'm writing the old fashioned way, the way I started out in this game. Alone. As God intended. So on that unrelated note, I give you Marigolds and a quick tour of my garden at rest.
