Description: This blog is intended to be a place where I can work out the theory and application of mup, the religion I am creating, in the classroom. mup is a religion focusing on several things including, but not limited to anarchism, gender queerness, silliness, the enlightening nature of all that which modern Euro-American culture despises, and the soul as art. It is an exoteric non-secret that the syllable mup was chosen out of all possible syllables for the ability to call its practitioners muppets. mup is also an APA (All-Purpose Acronym) and can be said to stand for, among other things: mystic urban paganism, mixed-up path, multi-user presence, momentary unifying principle, and (most appropriate for this blog) magickal utopian pedagpgy. The mup pantheon includes the following deities: Antinous, Ardhanarishvara, Azathoth, The Beast with Flowered Horns, Eris, Hermaphroditos, Hoor-paar-kraat, Inanna, Lacuna, Melek Ta'us Galumpf, Pombagira, Qelhma, Tlazolteotl, the tzaddikim shel haShem, and You. It draws from a vast multitude of traditions, both to honor the origins (and paths!) of these deities and to explain the universe. These include the 17 traditions represented by the deities above (a very Discordian number!), as well as existentialism, Dada, anarchism, ecofeminism, Feri, ceremonial magick, postmodernism, quantum theory, queer theory, just about anything I can get my hands on, and my own particular brand of crazy :-) Once upon a time, there were three nations, known as the Lands of Just, Or, and And. These three nations, they all met in one place. It was a trivia, a three-way crossroads, anciently saced to Hekate, patroness of witches, and more recently to Pombagira, the Divine Whore, Gypsy Queen, Carrier of the Ashe. On this trivia, on this crossroads, there lived a tribe of people, and they were known as mup. Inside them lived more people, and they were the muppets. And inside them lived yet more people, and they were the tzaddikim shel haShem. We are the muppets. Outside of us is mup and inside of us are the tzaddikim shel haShem, and we live on the boundaries between Self, Other, and All.
