MCT-SRL O'Reilly Race Recap, Oct. 27, 2009
While I was puttering around the track like Granny on a Sunday drive, most of the other drivers were tearing up the asphalt. Lansing’s John Hernly lined up his blue No.64 on the poll, with a 22.163 second (111.429 mph) lap. Starting next to him was Jimi Ward, racing from Calgary, Alberta in the No.21 with a 22.367 second (110.413 mph) lap. Hernly led the grid to the green flag and the drivers were on the gas for the start of the 100 lap event.
MCT-SRL Rockford Race Recap, Oct. 20, 2009
It was a busy week for members of the Michigan Circle Track Sim-Racing League in preparation for our first Tuesday night race, at our new host site. After getting things set up, there were fifteen drivers that showed up for the 100 lap race at the Rockford Speedway, in Illinois. A number of the drivers were short track sim-racing veterans, who were participating in their first MCT-SRL event. With the combination of new drivers and a tight, quarter mile paved oval, it was sure to make for an interesting night. The practice sessions were chaotic to say the very least.
Berlin Raceway Hall of Famer passes away
One of Berlin Raceway's most noted drivers and a member of the legendary Berlin racing family, Gordy VanderLaan, passed away on Saturday, October 17th. Track officials had announced that VanderLaan, along with his late brother, Eddie VanderLaan, and son, Bruce VanderLaan, were going to be inducted into the Berlin Raceway Hall of Fame during the track’s Nov. 6 awards banquet at the Pinnacle Center in Hudsonville. Gordy had been previously inducted into the Michigan Motor Sports Hall of Fame in 1986. Gordy was part of a select group of drivers who could claim he was a Berlin Original; having raced at Berlin Raceway during the track's inguaral season in 1951.
Auto City 2009 Champions
The Herald Pure Stocks took center stage on Friday, as Chad Lamson set a new track record in his Cadillac Seville with a 16.44.  Heat races went to Tony Williams and Andrew Burton.  Don Dennie took the early lead in the feature, but gave it up 5 laps later to Scott Beach.  The 25-lap race went caution free, as Lamson took over the top spot on lap 14 and led the rest of the way to sew up his second Auto City track championship.  Beach finished second followed by Charlie Thom, Craig Bastien and Gerry Persails, Jr. The fun stuff started with Lamson taking the lead in the Figure-8 on lap 9 from Williams to claim the victory.  Williams held on to second
The MCT-SRL Moves to Tuesday Nights
Most of what drivers have come to expect about the MCT-SRL will remain unchanged. There is still no fee for running in any MCT-SRL races. The previously published race schedule remains intact, (other than changing nights) and the track will be open for practice at 8:00 PM Eastern with qualifying at 9:00 PM.  Also, all stats for previous races will be available to drivers again within the next few days. Drivers can keep their same numbers, or change them if they wish. As before, numbers are issued on a first come, first served basis. Moving to the
