Clouds
We were back up to our mountaintop perch with special permission from the owner and the thunderheads were starting to build. I have never really painted clouds like this. I've got a ways to go to understand how to paint them.

Afternoon Shadow
We had a great day of painting in Johnson Canyon, and we are very tired. On the other hand, there was this perfect river course running in and out of the shadows. We couldn't resist. This is about a 30 minute color study for use in the studio at a later time.

Cool Creek
I painted for 8 days at the Zion area better known as Maynard Dixon Country. It is a yearly event with around 37 of the best landscape artists in the country. I go up to paint with them and maybe one day will be invited. This a cool place out of the hot sun. The light was changing quickly with clouds rolling overhead. The idea was to emphasize the light in the background by painting the foreground in dark, warm values.
