I first heard about Balloons!, designed by Shiny Development, on the MacBreak Weekly Podcast. Essentially, this is a message in a bottle social application. You can launch virtual balloons that have a twitter-like character limit and an optional picture attachment. The launched balloons also have a location tag and your user name. Balloons! suggests using your twitter handle as your user name, the motivation being to increase your followers on twitter. The app also allows you to track the balloons you’ve launched.
