Still Life Painting: Chardin, Vermeer and Friends
Untitled - Oil on Linen Panel - 10 x 8 inches
Sometimes I feel compelled to paint a subject for no reason other than to satisfy an obsession I have with it. This is one of those times. The books belonged to my grandmother. Given to her in 1910 and subsequently came into my possession. As realist still life painter I feel a connection to Chardin, one of the greatest still life painters ever. Vermee

Road in ProvenceOil on Linen Panel20 x 16 inches

Of course Arles’ most famous – perhaps infamous – resident was Vinc

This is just a little confection from France. It makes me feel good when I paint these little flower paintings. And although I often enjoy the drama of strong light, the soft light in this scene soothes my soul. I like moments of quiet contemplation.
