A Freak-out Thanksgiving!
I just wanted everyone to know that I’m freaking out a little on the inside about Thanksgiving this year (which we are celebrating on Fri. instead of Thurs… no one has Thurs. off here)
This is my 1st time EVER hosting and cooking Thanksgiving dinner, and I’m nervous. Add to that my turkey-experience today, and I’m almost at full-blown freak-out mode.
We bought our turkey at the shuk (Israeli market), which does not normally sell whole turkey; so, I was pleasantly surprised when I found out we were able to get it.
The good news is that they DID de-feather and be-head him….the bad news is th
What is prayer to me?
I’ve been dabbling in Max Lucado’s book, Fearless, whenever I have the opportunity; and yesterday, while I was in Celcom for more than 3 hours, I was able to read quite a bit.
Something he wrote regarding prayer grabbed a hold of me and hasn’t let go…
Prayer is the practice of sitting calmly in God’s lap and placing our hands on his steering wheel. He handles the speed and hard curves and ensures safe arrival. We offer our requests; we ask God to “take this cup away.” This cup of disease, betrayal, financial collapse, joblessness, conflict, or senility. Prayer is this simple.
When the Saints Go Marching In…
I think most of us grew up learning the “old school” version of this song, especially if you were ever in band. I remember when I was in 4th grade, my mom put together a composition of this song for me to play my trumpet to, with my friend, Ang, on the flute… harmony and all. We actually played it for the talent show that year.
I also think most of us think of Saints in terms of Catholicism, such as St. Peter, St. Andrew, St. John etc. but really, who IS a Saint?
According to the dictionary, there are many ways of being a saint:
a person who has died and gone to heaven.
an extremely virtuous person.
20 hours
Its a bit difficult to find something to write about when you’ve slept for 20 straight hours. Yep! That’s what I said…20 hours! From Monday night till Tuesday evening, I slept from 8:30 pm – 6:30 pm. (waking up here and there to use the bathroom)
This is my body’s way of telling me, “I’m trying to help you out here…. You want to get better??? Help me, help you.” -(Jerry McGuire)
So, I listened. And I slept, and slept, and slept some more.
I really think that after today I will be much better… and the little piggy that came to visit me… well, let
and the winner is……kosher (ummm, not so much)!
I had originally wrote this post back in April of this year, when swine flu peeked its nasty head into the world. Well, 7 months later, and I’m singing a new tune. I guess I wrote a little hastely about the outbreak (now called H1N1), cuz here’s the thing:
I GOT IT (and its spreading through Israel, like the States too)
Yep. I got hit by th
