Be Thankful but for real Let’s Fight
There was something this past weekend in the NFL that caught my attention and that was the fight on the Dallas Cowboys sideline. That fight? It was between Terrence Newman and his coach Dave Campo. While fights on the sideline aren’t uncommon they aren’t caught to the level of this one. The forthcoming video will show that.
What that fight did do was make me think of how many truly good fights in the NFL have their been on the field. To be honest there haven’t been many. Think about the guys are in full pads, rarely leave their bench and when they do its a bunch of pushing. To be honest its worst then a fight in baseball
Jason Grilli Announces Signing (via Twitter)
Everyone knows Twitter and Facebook are the two biggest news breakers now in the world, word gets out quicker there then anywhere else. Free agent pitcher Jason Grilli used his twitter account to announce to the world that he’s got a new contract. The catch is he can’t yet tell us which team has signed him.
@GrillCheese49: Well it is official. I am signing with my 7th team. Can you guess? Drum roll please! Will let ya know when I am able.
Grilli is an eight year veteran and this is now his seventh major league team. HeR
The Kid Stays In Seattle
The Seattle Mariners have resigned outfielder Ken Griffey Jr to another one year deal. The deal is pretty similar to what Griffey made in 2009, it’s a base salary of $2.35 million plus incentives which could make him almost $3.9 million. The incentives are all based on attendance and plate appearances.
I have to say I’m glad The Kid will be back for another season. He may be turning 40 and not a fulltime player anymore but he’s still a solid contributor. In 2009, he hit only .214 but smacked 19 homers with 57 rbis and 19 doubles in just 387 at-bats. More importantly then the offense he can bring as a back up, is the excitement he brings to the fans.
Bulger Out With Knee Fracture
Just when you think the St. Louis Rams season couldn’t get any worse, it does. Jay Glazer at FOXSports reports that quarterback Marc Bulger will be out three to six weeks with a fractured knee cap. The injury is more technically known as a tibial plateau fracture. So the new starting QB for the Rams is Kyle Boller.
In addition to the fractured kneecap, Bulger was dealt a blow to the head and may have a concussion. That all makes week 11 a pretty rough one for the veteran. The head injury was the one most thought would cause him to miss the week 12 contest agai
Mangini Cries Foul
What a surprise, Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini is crying foul after his team loss to the Detroit Lions. Mangini claims that the Lions faked injuries throughout the game to slow down his teams no huddle offense. Could that be the case? Yea, I’m sure teams have done this in the past but Mangini took his doubts to a whole new level.
Asked if he was accusing Lions coach Jim Schwartz, his old colleague from their Cleveland days, of faking injuries, Mangini said, “I’m just saying there were a lot of them.”
He was asked if it would be particularly disturbing for someone he’s known so long to bend the rules like that.
