Why Do People Reject Jesus?... Pilate
By looking at Jesus’ trial and crucifixion we encounter different types of people who reject Jesus. Last time we talked about “Religious people” by looking at the Pharisees and the religious leaders back in Jesus’ day. We see that the same kind of attitude towards Jesus exists with the same type of people today. To see the second kind of person who rejects Jesus, we look no further than Pontious Pilate. He was a coward, only interested in self. For Pilate, there was never a doubt about Jesus’ innocence. Three times he declared Jesus not guilty. He couldn’t understand why these people wanted to kill Jesus, but his fear of the Jew’s political pressure made
A Response To "Why Do People Reject Truth?"
A friend of mine, Doug Cloud, sent me this email in response to my blog post, "Why Do People Reject Truth?"(That post is below this post)...Doug Cloud to me show details 11:17 PM (1 hour ago) I was having this exact same discussion with someone a few weeks ago and suddenly I was in Holy Spirit mode - talking without consciously planning what I was saying. It went something like this....-------------------------Ask yourself this - why do people get funny when you mention Jesus? Why Do People Reject Truth?
Why do people reject Jesus? That’s a question those of us who truly love and adore Him ask. The first type of person I’m going to spend time writing about is “The Religious Person.”These aren’t easy words to talk about, teach or explain – but they are words of Truth. They may be church goers, they may be pious, they may say they love God, and give all the outward appearances of being godly and holy. Beware of these people… it’s just an act. Like I said, it’s hard to address- but IT WILL be addressed. Bottom line is… religious people hate God. Oh they may lov
Comforting Others
“Others first—Self last.”A very simple statement, yet how genius! This is the message that stirred in my heart as I was praying. Like everybody else, I have my own issues. But I should know by now that whatever I seem to be going through at a given moment, good or
Overcoming Depression...
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in GodI will praise Him again—my Savior and my God.” Psalm 42: 5, 6We all visit there. Some go there more than others, and to some it feels like they never left. Depression is an all too common emotion. Actually, it’s a form of bondage…mental torture. What a misconception to think Christians don’t get depressed! We’re human, just like everybody else. But there’s a major difference, a definite difference, the difference between life… and death. “…let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Romans 12: 2
