Preppy Luxe: Jaguar E-Type
My first exposure to the Jaguar E-Type was in the movie Harold and Maude. Harold owned an E-Type that just happened to resemble a hearse. I was again reminded of the memorable car in a recent New York Times feature. The lines are this car are just right, in my opinion, and it has just the right amount of vintage flair for a women (or man) about town. As most of these were manufactured in the 1960s and 70s, of course this car has vintage flair, but good style never fades. Tell me if you agree.

Last night I watched half of the movie "Auntie Mamie." "Auntie Mamie" stars Rosalind Russell as the fabulous remaining relative (aunt) of a young orphaned boy. Her twenties-era New York apartment is to die for, and her life is pretty roaring as well. The apartment is decked out in satin, chinoiserie, and lots of bootleg liquor. The opening scene is wonderful, but the theater-like quality of the movie prevented me from finishing the whole thing (the movie was originally a play). One of the most famous quotes from the movie is this:"Yes! Live! Life's a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!"
