In Response to the Tragedy at Ft. Hood by Debra Medina on Nov 06, 2009 We grieve. And we extend condolences, sincere and genuine. And I extend mine to the families of those slain in yesterday’s shootings; to those injured and to their families. Today though, beyond our shock, and beyond our grief, we must do something different. We must face the reality that this shooting underscores: It was not the first and it will not be the last. NO amount of military or police presence can protect us from an individual intent on doing harm. The protection of life, liberty and property must begin with us. We must be prepared to defend ourselves. I
