Description:	Shemittah is the Mitzvah (Biblical Commandment) that proves that the Land of Israel is meant exclusively for the Jewish People. In the Shemittah (Sabbatical) year we let the Land lie fallow to demonstrate that we return the Land back to its true owner HaKadosh Baruch Hu, the Holy One Blessed be He, the Master and Creator of the Earth. G-d created the world and has chosen the Promised Land to the Jewish People as is clearly reiterated several places in the Torah such as in the Covenant with Yaakov Avinu (Jacob), the Covenant with Yitzchok Avinu (Isaac) and the Covenant with Avrahom Avinu (Abraham). In addition, the Torah clearly says that Ishmael does not inherit the Land with Isaac. Only through Isaac's seed will the inheritance be passed down. G-d however, does promise that Ishmael's seed will be a great Nation.
