Creating an Evergreen Wreath
Few things speak of Christmas as traditionally as an evergreen wreath.  While some department stores and supermarkets charge a fortune for a simple evergreen wreath, much better buys can be found at farmers’ markets and roadside stands where the proceeds often go to charity. However, for those on a limited Christmas budget, or who enjoy crafting, an evergreen wreath is an easy and satisfying holiday decoration to make if you have the patience and inclination. 

“End of the Line” – GGW Nov Photo Contest
The theme for November’s Photo Contest at Gardening Gone Wild is END OF THE LINE. I believe I’ve photographed this tree in every season, but I like the contrast of the vibrant reds and golds against the silvery, arthritic limbs of this poor tree.  End of the season, and end of the line.

Waiting, Like Children
“How silently they tumble down And come to rest upon the ground To lay a carpet, rich and rare, Beneath the trees without a care, Content to sleep, their work well done, Colors gleaming in the sun. At other times, they wildly fly Until they nearly reach the sky. Twisting, turning through the air Till all the trees stand stark and bare.

Still Colour To Be Found
Though the best of Autumn’s colour has drifted into a golden carpet by now, there is still much colour to be found if one looks closely.  For example, this rose bush just off the balcony displays a quiet splotch of red and green.  Don’t those thorns look like cats’ claws?
