Daring Bakers are not baking this month- they’re deep frying instead!!
That was what got me when I went to check the daring bakers’ challenge for this month. The daring bakers were not “baking ” this month. Instead, we were supposed to be deep frying. We do not deep fry often at our home, but this being a challenge, I, like most of my fellow daring bakers, embraced it . The November 2009 Daring Bakers Challenge was chosen and hosted by Lisa Michele of Parsley, Sage, Desserts and Line Drives. She chose the Italian Pastry, Cannolo (Cannoli is plural), using the cookbooks Lidia’s Italian-American Kitchen by Lidia Matticchio Bastianich and The Sopranos Fam
Chequered eggless banana cake
A little dark, a little bright- isn’t that what life is all about. The light and the dark blend in to make our lives what they are. In fact, the dark makes us appreciate the light even more. Just like this chequered eggless banana cake. The light and the dark come together to make it the thing of beauty that it is. I first came across a two toned cake when I was very young. BBC Good Food Show London’09
Last Saturday, I attended the  BBC Good Food Show in London. Some of you may remember the last BBC Good Food Show that I attended in June (Birmingham) of this year. I had met the latter in the Birmingham show and the three of us got along very

Yes! It is finally here. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. The Blogger Aid Cookbook has been published and is for sale. Blogger what? Well, it was towards the beginning of the year that Val of More Than Burnt Toast & Giz of Equal Opportunity Kitchen, both wonderful and passionate food bloggers in their own right came up with the brilliant idea of a cook book. And not just any cook book, but  one in which the recipes will be contributed by food bloggers. The members of
Nutella and dark chocolate truffles
The days are just whizzing by. The weekend came and went, and so did the first working day of the week. I am huffing and puffing my way to complete a million things and be at a hundred places at the same time. Between Rengoni’s Anglo Saxon projects and Agastya’s dinosaur fact files and several other things, I am pausing , every now and then, for a breather. Sometimes, it just seems that everything needs to be done at the same time. And there are so many deadlines to be met, that it becomes hard to prioritise. But, then, a deep breath and calmness is what is required and life goes on. The weather has been at it’s autumnal best. One day, you can see the sun
