This is among my favorite high horses. As a recently minted MBA who learned a thing or two about globalization and innovation in his courses, I think I get to weigh in on the capitalist system.
The problem with capitalism, IMO, is that we have all kinds of systems in place that keep capital from flowing freely. Because of its power to move others–its leverage–it tends to become “sticky.” A
Laptop fail–bye-bye, Gateway
My Gateway C-120X, a great convertible tablet that I've loved over the last two years, appears to be a goner. The single center swiveling hinge–made of magnesium for durability–has nevertheless failed, shearing off on both sides of the post. Looking at replacement parts, it appears a new laptop will be more cost-effective.
I'm not thrilled, but I can't complain. The Gateway got me my MBA and let me handwrite annotations on PowerPoint slides. It certainly did more than its share of work. I'll miss it.
Anyway, it's sure to disrupt my workflow here for a while.
