Friday
Did some cleaning up out back this morning and then headed out to see if there were any yard sales to be found. The answer to which was not that we could locate. So went to Poor Man’s to talk to Bill about a spot at his Sunday trade day. After doing so went to Piedmont to talk to Herrington about some waferboard. Afterwards went to the Co-Op in Jacksonville to see about some carriage bolts. They had two different ones that might work so got one of each and came home, tried them in the erector set metal and decided the bigger (5/16) one would work better so went back and got a hundred carriage bolts, nuts, and lockwashers. Then went to McClellan Auto and found that
Another long day but made it through
Started loading the truck just after starting a pot of coffee this morning. Dug through tools and took a lot more than I needed but had rather have a half ton too much stuff than be one screw short. Finished loading after eating breakfast and headed to the building materials stores around 10. Got the tin and a couple of other things at Marvin’s and then went on to Lowe’s and got the rest. Got the truck repacked and was on the road toward Calcis at 11:12. Pulled in around 12:30 and started unloading stuff. After getting things unloaded sat down and ate lunch, then started tearing the porch roof off about 1. Got the tin torn off and the 1×4’s remove
Hump day and done
Loaded up and headed to Calcis again this morning. Stopped and ate lunch at the river in our usual spot. Twas quite nippy. Wish I had worn my long johns as I thought about doing but decided against as the sun was out when we left, but was very overcast with a chill wind blowing off the water when we stopped. Finished quickly and headed on. Got stuff unloaded and inside, then while Cat was setting up the computer I did some measuring of the front porch and the railing of the old house so I can duplicate at least in part the look on the mobile home porch. After getting the measurements I needed and working out a set of plans I took a walk along the railroad tracks and pick
Tuesday on the road
Started heading west and had to turn around and go east for a bit to get some additional stuff at Wally World and then headed west again for a while prior to turning south to Calcis. Stopped in Pell City for lunch and then continued south. Did the unload and put up things there and then went to Harpersville to get Cat’s mom some stuff and then back to Calcis. Left out and made a stop in Vincent and then continued on south through Harpersville to the Dixieland Flea Market, just to see how far away it was. Gonna have to go down on either Saturday or Sunday and see what it’s like. Have gotten conflicting stories on it and want to see for ourselves. Turned around
Monday bits
Unloaded the truck this morning after clearing enough space in the Qhut to store the totes. Did lunch and then headed out and paid bills, then went to Piedmont to the new salvage grocery that a couple of friends are opening and helped tote boxes to the shelves until about dark thirty. Left out and went to the Anniston Wally World and got Cat’s mom a bunch of stuff, then went to the Dollar Tree and got a few more things that were cheaper there. Next stop was the Jacksonville Wally World to get some totes and stuff that the Anniston store was out of and then home. Unloaded the truck and then fixed and ate supper and then a bit of a sit down at the computer for a bit.
