The Intersection of Politics and Public Opinion
The September 11th Trials: Yet another bad idea from the Obama Administration.
As the heath care debate has consumed much of the news coverage and political chit-chat over the last few weeks, focus on an important decision from President Obama’s Administration has been left hovering on the back burner. That’s the decision to try the suspected terrorists of the September 11 attacks in U.S. civilian court.
It was no coincidence the White House chose to release this jaw-dropping news on a Friday in the hope it would get buried going into the weekend. And, there’s no doubt it has been a deliberate tactic to consistently frame this political hot potato as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s decision, rather than President Obama or his Administrat
Government-Run Health Care: They Can’t Be For Real….It Must Be A (Bad) Dream
If health care reform wasn’t such a serious issue with the lives and welfare of millions of Americans at stake, I might think President Obama and Democrats in Congress were playing one big national prank on us by suggesting the government should run health care.
But, the fact is, health care reform IS a serious issue, and so I have to presume then that the whole idea of government-run health care is in fact a bad dream; nay, a nightmare.
Consider the government’s recent report card:
Yesterday, the government-run aviation system failed, causing a domino effect of flight delays and cancellations for busy travelers across the country.

The Vote In The House Fails to Build Support for Health Care Reform
By Bill McInturff and Elizabeth Harrington
In one of the first national surveys completed after the House vote on health care reform…things do not look good for President Obama and Democrats in Congress:
Opposition to President Obama’s health care plan is higher after the House vote than our previous tracks (29% favor/40% oppose). Voters’ net opposition to the plan has increased from -6% in September (31% favor/37% oppose) to -11% today.
Voter opposition to President Obama’s health care plan is higher than ever measured for President Clinton’s plan in 1993/1994 (35% oppose in June 1994).

Trends to Watch Heading into 2010
By Nicole McCleskey and Bill McInturff
As we look back to the Virginia and New Jersey elections, there are five important trends worth watching heading into 2010 that foreshadow good things to come for Republican candidates.
1. Republican voters are incredibly fired up about elections right now. This was on full display in Virginia and New Jersey where Republican enthusiasm about the election was through the roof, and the composition of the electorate was markedly different in 2009 than in 2008 given very high Republican turnout.
On our “election interest scale” where voters indicate their interest in the upcoming elect
Shhh — Don’t Tell Anyone, But Obama Hurt Deeds in Virginia
Democrats and the press are on a self-delusional kick that Barack Obama had nothing to do with the results in Virginia and New Jersey. That’s fine by me. The more the Dems deny to themselves that Independents moved to the GOP and that Republican voters were fired up because of concerns about Obama, the less prepared the Dems will be to deal with it in 2010.
I’ve got Virginia data that makes a different case. At the end of tracking, we added some questions paid for by
