Putting yourself out there
Sometimes to get ahead, you have to put yourself out there and say 'yes, I can do that' even if it means doing it for free, it's along the lines of the old adage "spend money to make money"Recently, while at the Royal Winter Fair, I made a connection with the Secretary of the OFHA (Ontario Friesian Horse Association). I mentioned to him, that since I seem to be at a lot of the events lately (with my friend and her horse) maybe I should be taking pictures that they can turn around and use on their website and for promotional type materials. He seemed a little hesitant, but when I mentioned I would donate my time in return for photo credits, how could he say no. Royal Review
Well, our 3 days of demonstrating at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair are over, and all in all it was a great weekend. We moved in on Thursday night, and Teade surprised us all by not even caring about his surroundings. This venue is VERY different from the surroundings at your typical horse show, A) it's indoors and B) the lights are on 24/7. Which definitely contributed to his energy level by Sunday. The poor boy was tuckered out!Ang and Teade were doing 2 demonstration rides a day, and a whole lot of question answering in between. We would also make the VERY long trek once a day over to the horse palace to give Teade a bath, which greatly contributed to his b
My little pony
Okay, she's not mine, but she is in a way. Libby belongs to a good friend of mine, and I part-board her, but because said friend has another horse to ride, and is awesome, I am pretty much the only one who ever rides her.But with riding her, comes everything else. Libby, is a flea-bitten gray, but most non-horse people would say she is white. And I fully believe that she deep down wants to be brown. At least that is what she leads me to believe by always being covered in mud.Seriously, she spends her days like this:
Concerts over the years
I've been to a lot of concerts, and I thought I would list them all here chronologically, even though that may end up in me being depressed about all the money I've spent over the years. So here we go!1. March 23, 1996 - AC/DC, Skydome6. December 13, 1996 - The Tragically Hip, Maple Leaf Gardens7. June 28, 1997 - Edgefest, Molson Park8. July 6, 1997 - Aerosmith, Molson Amphitheatre9. July 10, 1997 - Bush, Molson Amphitheatre10.
It's the most wonderful time of the year
And I don't mean Christmas, or like the 'Staples' commercials make you believe, back to school. It's Royal Agricultural Winter Fair time!!I love, love, love the Royal. I can't even really describe how much I look forward to this event every year. When I was a kid, I'd always head down for a day with my mom, we'd walk around for hours looking at all the farm animals, wondering at the size of the draft horses in the Horse Palace. We would try to squeeze in with all the little kids to hold a baby chick, well, that was more me, and I'd always try to sneak one into my pocket. Then we would stare in awe at the sculptures that people would create with butter.... who wo
