| Description: |
As much as an amateur blogger and theologian can do this…I want to make you think. I want you to know what you believe and why you believe it. And I want you to believe what you do - not because Mommy and Daddy believed it - but because it is the truth as contained in the Scriptures. I pray that God will use this blog and the resources and links provided here to grow its readers (including me) in the grace and knowledge of Christ. I pray this knowledge will result in a life of obedience that flows - not from fear or a desire to gain God’s favor - but from a gratitude of knowing the truth about Who your Creator is, and what your Creator has done for you. |

Update on Matt Chandler
Matt Chandler sent out a Twitter update after his trip to the ER following his fall. This is what he said:
Thx for the prayers. I have a small mass in my frontal lobe. date w/ the neurosurgeon early next wk. I am His & confident
If you don’t know anything else about Matt, all you need to know is that he is a brother in Christ who faithfully proclaims the gospel. Check out the videos in the left sidebar of Matt if you have never heard him before. And pray for him…
Pray for Matt Chandler
Mark Driscoll just sent out a Twitter update that Matt Chandler, of The Village Church, “apparently had a seizure, passed out, fell and hit his head, bit his tongue, got a black eye, & was rushed to the ER. He’s reportedly alert & awaiting results from the MRI.”
Please lift up our brother in Christ in prayer…
The Manhattan Conflagration
If you are a Christian and do not yet know what the Manhattan Declaration is…WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Myriads of religious leaders from Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant persuasions have signed this thing, including men I highly respect, like Dr. Al Mohler. For the record, I am against the Declaration. I believe it undermines the only thing that holds the power to change hearts and minds on serious issues like abortion, marriage and religious liberty…the gospel. The Declaration throws around terms like ‘gospel’, ‘church’ and ‘ChristianR
Judge Not? What Does the Bible Say?
Never read A Bible verse.
If I had a dime for every time I heard someone recite Matthew 7:1 (Judge not, lest ye be judged) or talk about the log in a person’s eye who was making a distinction about something…well, I wouldn’t be rich, but I would have a lot of dimes! Next to John 3:16, this is perhaps the most misquoted verse in all of God’s Word. People wield it like a light sabre, cutting down (with judgment, mind you) all those who would dare to make a judgment about them or something or someone they agree with. Just the mention of those words (judge not) usually puts people on the defensive and quickly turns the t
The Doctrine of Total Depravity – Unwilling and Unable
If you hold to free-will salvation, I challenge you to listen to this message from John MacArthur on the subject of the depravity of man and his unwillingness and inability to come to God. This message was given at the Together for the Gospel Conference, 2008 (I’m still looking for someone to join me in going to the T4G 2010 Conference). Here is an outstanding declaration on the doctrine that is perhaps the most hated among men (sadly, even Christian men). Please take the time to listen to this…
